WorldPay EMV Credit Card Processing: Account & Terminal Compatibility
WorldPay EMV Credit Card Processing: Account & Terminal Compatibility
When using WorldPay as your credit card payment processor alongside RTS, there is some compatibility information that should be considered based on the account type used.
This article will details this information separated out by processing account type.

Terminals that are still running Windows XP are unable to be used for EMV credit card processing in any way.
triPOS Direct
WorldPay's triPOS Direct account type offers EMV credit card readers that are Direct USB connections to the POS terminals.
Due to this, additional software must be installed and configured on each terminal (with assistance from the RTS Support Team) that will be using one of the provided EMV card readers.

The triPOS Direct software is only compatible with systems running Windows 10 or higher.
If you are already running the RTS software at your location, you can verify the operating system running on each POS terminal via the software by going to Help -> About.
triPOS Cloud
WorldPay's triPOS Cloud account type offers EMV credit card readers that are network-based.
These connect to your existing network using a direct Ethernet connection.
Because of this, there are no software compatibility issues to consider, but any potential issues with the network in your building should be considered with this setup as it can directly impact your card readers functionality.

Additionally, you should consider the physical layout of how the network in your building has been routed/wired as the card readers will need to be added to it using the Ethernet port on the device.
The simplest way to approach this is to get an UNMANAGED network switch to use specifically for these card readers.
That switch gets hooked into the network with an ethernet cable, and then the card readers all get connected to that switch.
Keep in mind, while this is the simplest solution, this may not be realistic depending on how your location has it's network wires ran through your building.

To further expand on this, there are 4 diagrams attached to this article showing some different variations of how these card readers could potentially be integrated into your existing network.
Just like with any other type of processing account, the RTS Support Team will assist in the configuration of the account and card readers so they properly work with the POS software.
DataCap NETePay
A WorldPay EMV account boarded through Datacap using the NETePay offers EMV credit card readers that are Direct USB connections to the POS terminals.

Going forward, the majority of processing accounts offered by WorldPay will be done as either triPOS Direct or triPOS Cloud.
DataCap NETePay-based account types are traditionally legacy accounts that have been boarded previously.
Because of this, similar to the triPOS Direct account type, it requires additional software to be installed and configured on the RTS Server and the individual terminals that will be using one of the EMV Card Readers.
Just like we have noted on the triPOS Direct section of this article, the RTS Support Team will assist in the installation and configuration process of this software and the card readers.

The DataCap software is only compatible with systems running Windows 7 and above.
If you are already running the RTS software at your location, you can verify the operating system running on each POS terminal via the software by going to Help -> About.
