The Order routing feature of RTS is designed to allow you to set up items to be printed via a networked printer somewhere else in the building. This may be useful for printing mixed drinks to a printer at a bar, or items that need additional preparation in the kitchen. The slip that prints will include items in the transaction that have been enabled for that printer, an order number (that will also be printed on the customer's receipt), and a table number if available. If you have a buzzer connected to the printer RTS will also be able to buzz if it is desired.
There are three main steps to setting up Order Routing in RTS:
- Set up the Printer in RTS
- Assign Items to the Route
- Set your Selling Stations to use the route
Adding a Remote Printer in RTS
There are two options when adding a remote printer into RTS. You can either set up the printer as a windows printer onto the server and enable it as a print server or set up the printer on each station, and configure the printer in RTS individually on each station. Setting your RTS server as the print server will be the quickest method, however, setting up the printer on each station will give you more flexibility.
Setting up the RTS Server as a Print Server
Once you have added the printer as a Windows Printer on the server, you can add it into RTS by:
- Navigate to
Setup -> Concessions -> Remote Printers Setup
. - If you have not already added a printer, press the Add button in the lower left-hand side of the window
- In the middle of the screen, under Printer Settings, select your printer from the drop-down next to Network Path.
- Press Save then Close.
- Navigate to
File -> Options
. - Select the Order Routing tab, and the Fill Order Options tab within that.
- Set the Enable Print Server option to True.
- Press OK.
Setting up the Printer on Each Station
To set up the printer on each station, the printer will first have to be added to the computer as a printer in Windows.
- Navigate to
Setup -> Concessions -> Remote Printers Setup
. - If you have not already added a printer, press the Add button in the lower left-hand side of the window, and enter a name for the printer.
- In the middle of the screen, under Printer Settings, select your printer from the drop-down next to Network Path. It should say "WinPrint:*Name you entered in Windows Printers*"
- Press Save then Close.
Enabling a Printer Buzzer
If you have a buzzer connected to the printer RTS will also be able to buzz it if desired. To set this up:
- Navigate to
Setup -> Concessions -> Remote Printers Setup
. - Select the Printer you wish to configure from the Printer List on the left-hand side of the screen
- Under the Buzzer Settings header in the middle of the screen set the Buzzer Enabled setting to True
- You may also need to Enable the buzzer internally on the printer by pressing the Enable button on the right-hand side of the screen.
- Press the Test button to verify that the buzzer is working.
- Press Save to save the settings.
Adding Items to your Fill Order Routing Configuration
A Fill Order Routing Configuration defines which items will be sent to what printer. You may create multiple Order Routing Configurations if you want an item to print to different printers depending on the station it was sold on.
- Navigate to
File -> Options
.
- Select the Order Routing tab, and the Fill Order Options tab within that.
- Press the Item Routing button
- If you do not wish to create a new configuration, skip this step.
- Press the Add button at the top of the window.
- Enter a name for the configuration.
- For each printer:
- Check all items and subitems to modifiers which are sold individually.
- Press the Add as Main button.
- Click the name of the printer(s) you want to add these items to.
- Check all items that are used as subitems to modifiers and not sold individually.
- Press the Add as Helper button.
- Click the name of the printer(s) you want to add these items to.
- For every item you want to print
- Navigate to
Setup -> Concessions -> Multiple Item Setup
- If an item you want to print has a False in the Fill Order column, double-click on the False
- In the item settings check the Display on Fillorder station setting.
- Hit Save
- The False in the item's column in Multiple Item Setup should now say True
Configure your Selling Stations to Print to a Remote Printer
In order to tell your selling stations to print to a remote printer, navigate to Setup -> Local Computer
. Inside of the Fill Order in the Order Routing tab, select your Item Group Configuration from the dropdown box.
Note:Setup -> Concessions -> Item Routing
is deprecated.
